The Ogun State government has signaled the preparedness of herbalists in the state to compete in the global traditional medicine market.

The Ogun State Alternate Medicine Board has initiated training programs for herbalists across the state in preparation for this competition.

Dr. Kafayat Lawal, the Executive Secretary of the Board, made this announcement in Abeokuta during a workshop aimed at providing intensive training for herbal medicine manufacturers on the safety and efficacy of herbal products.

She stated that the Board is collaborating with the National Agency for Food and Drug Control (NAFDAC) to develop a strategy for promoting indigenous medicine.

Dr. Lawal emphasized that this initiative would not only promote the use of herbal medicine but also generate revenue for the state government.

By ensuring the safety and efficacy of herbal products and providing training to herbalists, Ogun State aims to position itself as a competitive player in the global traditional medicine market.
