The Chief Magistrate Court in Ikorodu has ruled that Wunmi, the wife of the late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, be served notice of the pending DNA test application through substituted means.

This directive was disclosed in a statement signed by a member of the Aloba family’s legal team, Monisola Odumosu.

In the application filed by Joseph Aloba’s legal team, father to the late singer, the family sought an order to serve Wunmi by posting all relevant court documents on her last-known address.

According to the statement, Emmanuel Oroko’s legal team argued that previous attempts by the court sheriff to serve Wunmi were unsuccessful.

Odumosu explained, “The Chief Magistrate granted the order and directed that the respondent be served by posting the court documents to her last known address.”

“The Aloba family contests the paternity of baby Liam and has filed an application before the Family Court, seeking an order for Wunmi and baby Liam to undergo a DNA test at any recognized laboratory in Lagos,” the statement added.

Although Wunmi, in a viral video, expressed readiness for a DNA test, she has reportedly been unavailable for the court sheriff to serve her with the originating motion.

However, Odumosu disclosed that the matter has been adjourned until next month for the report of service.

Wunmi’s lawyer, Taiwo Olawanle, when contacted, claimed unawareness of the court order. He stated, “We don’t have the court order. If we have an order, we will advise her to adhere to it. That is not a problem. But we are not aware of any order. I am just hearing that from you.”

Mohbad passed away at the age of 27 on September 12, 2023, under controversial circumstances, triggering discussions on social media.

As a former signee of Marlian Music owned by Naira Marley, Mohbad’s departure from the label in February 2022 added to the intrigue.

The Lagos State Police Command initiated a special investigation team on September 18, 2023, to probe the singer’s demise.

His death resulted in the arrest of Naira Marley, as well as controversial Lagos socialite, Balogun Eletu, also known as Sam Larry, among others. Mohbad’s body was exhumed for autopsy on September 21, 2023, to determine the cause of death.
