Four lives have tragically been lost in separate auto crashes along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway between Friday night and Saturday morning.
In the Friday night crash near Ogbere Junction along the Ijebu-Ode-Ore-Benin Expressway, two people were killed and three others injured at around 8:24 pm.
The victims were trapped inside one of the vehicles involved in the accident.
The crash was attributed to route violation and excessive speed and involved a DAF truck (AYE886ZQ) and a Volvo truck (MUS246YH).
According to Florence Okpe, the spokesperson for the Ogun State Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), the injured victims were taken to General Hospital, Ijebu Ode, and one corpse was deposited at the hospital morgue while the other was handed over to the family for burial.
In another crash on Saturday morning along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in the Ogere axis after Verony, two lives were lost—a female adult and a female child.

The crash occurred at about 10:30 am and involved a single vehicle (Toyota Camry) with registration number BDG526JC.
Seven persons were involved in this lone crash, including four female adults, one male adult, one male child, and one female child.
Five persons were injured (one male adult, one female child, one male child, and two female adults) due to excessive speed, causing the vehicle to lose control and overturn.
The injured victims were taken to IDERA Hospital in Sagamu for medical attention, and the deceased bodies were deposited at the same hospital.
Anthony Uga, the Sector Commander, expressed concern over the high incidence of fatal crashes caused by excessive speed and emphasized the need for motorists to adhere to speed limits and road regulations.
The FRSC is taking measures to enforce speed control, including the installation of speed limit devices in commercial vehicles, to reduce road accidents and loss of lives on Nigerian roads.
