Enugu Rangers, leaders of the Nigeria Premier Football League, maintained their top position on the standings by securing a narrow 3-2 victory over Abia Warriors in Tuesday’s match-day 30 Oriental derby at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu, as reported by Punch Sports Extra.
The Flying Antelopes took an early lead through Saviour Isaac, but Abia Warriors equalized just before halftime with a goal from Ojonugwa Adejoh.
However, Enugu Rangers asserted their dominance in the second half, with Kareem Ogunleye and Chiedozie Okorie scoring to extend their lead. Despite a late goal from Abia Warriors’ Pascal Nwabueze, Enugu Rangers held on to their lead.

With this result, the seven-time Nigerian champions maintained their three-point lead at the top of the table with 54 points, while Enyimba, their closest rivals, secured a 1-0 victory over Heartland to stay in contention.
In another match on match-day 30, Sporting Lagos defeated Sunshine Stars 1-0 at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Lagos, with Paschal Durugbor’s ninth-minute header securing the victory for the home team.
Additional fixtures saw 3SC claim a 2-0 victory over Lobi Stars, Rivers United triumphed 3-1 against Plateau United, and Bendel Insurance came from behind to beat Kano Pillars 2-1. Meanwhile, Kwara United secured a 2-1 away win against Gombe United.
Despite a 4-1 victory over Niger Tornadoes, Akwa United remains in the relegation zone, sitting in 18th place with 34 points after 30 games.
