Job Title: Communications Officer
Description: The International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group, is seeking a Communications Officer to join its Regional Communications team. The position is based in Lagos, Nigeria, and will focus on Central Africa (including Republic of the Congo, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, São Tomé and PrÃncipe) and Anglophone West Africa (including Liberia, Ghana, Nigeria, and Sierra Leone). The Communications Officer will engage with stakeholders to promote IFC’s projects and contribute to its communications strategy.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Provide advice on communications to IFC management and staff in Central and Anglophone West Africa.
- Coordinate with regional Communications colleagues to execute a coherent communications strategy in the sub-region.
- Conceptualize and supervise the preparation, production, and dissemination of communication products.
- Initiate effective professional relationships with key external and internal constituencies.
- Oversee planning and coordination of IFC-organized conferences, seminars, executive missions, and other communication-related activities.
- Support risk identification and mitigation activities, providing political economy analysis for relevant countries.
Selection Criteria:
- Master’s Degree in Communications, Journalism, Political Science, International Relations, Public Affairs, Marketing, Business/Finance.
- 7+ years of experience in corporate communications, international relations, public affairs, or related field.
- Solid background in communications.
- Knowledge and experience working across markets in Africa, especially in Nigeria or Central Africa, and in the private sector is a plus.
- Ability to lead and manage relationships with senior executives.
- Understanding of multilateral development institutions, including the World Bank Group policies and operations.
- Proven ability to think strategically, analyze diverse information, and adapt to new communications challenges.
- Self-motivated, creative, excellent organizational skills, and ability to perform multiple tasks.
- Excellent English and French, including writing and editing skills.
