Policemen from the Isokoko Division of the Lagos State Police Command recently conducted a raid on a house in Agege suspected of producing counterfeit beverages, as revealed by Benjamin Hundeyin, the command’s Public Relations Officer, in a video shared on his social media handle on Thursday.
During the raid, four individuals believed to be the masterminds behind the illegal operation were apprehended, and authorities seized counterfeit drinks along with other related items.
Hundeyin emphasized that the police acted on credible information leading to the operation.
Hundeyin’s caption accompanying the video stated, “Officers of Isokoko Division, acting on credible information, raided a house in Agege where fake alcoholic drinks were being produced.

The police arrested four people behind the illegal distillery and recovered fake drinks, empty bottles, and labels of different brands. Investigation is ongoing.”
This incident echoes a previous report from December 2023, where the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) intercepted counterfeiters involved in the production of various fake beverages, including wine and soft drinks, valued at over N750 million in the Eziukwu market in Aba, Abia state.
In a similar occurrence during the same month, officers affiliated with the Ojo Division of the Lagos State Police Command apprehended two suspects, Magnus Nwonka, 42, and Imo Lawrence, 35, for possessing fake drinks.
The suspects led detectives to a multi-room factory in an unhygienic environment where the counterfeit drinks were being manufactured.
