In a disturbing turn of events on Tuesday morning, enraged youths set ablaze the residence of a farmer within the Angwa Rukuba-Etoo Baba community in Jos, Plateau State. Reports indicate that the same group also ransacked the farmer’s poultry farm, looting birds before setting the premises on fire.

Confirming the incident, community resident Mrs. Janet Haruna conveyed to Saving point media that the violence erupted following the alleged killing of a security guard employed by the farmer.

“We need help in our Angwa Rukuba-Etoo Baba community in Jos North LGA because some angry youths have just set the house of a farmer on fire,” expressed Haruna.

According to her, tensions escalated after the farmer’s son purportedly accused the security guard of theft and subsequently engaged in a physical altercation, leading to the guard’s demise. The enraged youths then retaliated by setting the farmer’s house ablaze.

Efforts to contain the fire were promptly initiated by the state fire service, with security forces deployed to prevent further unrest.

State police spokesperson Alabo Alfred directed inquiries to the Divisional Police Officer overseeing the area, indicating ongoing efforts to manage the situation.
