The University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) in Kwara State has officially declared a reduction in school charges for the 2022/2023 academic session, as students resume academic activities.
The decision comes after a series of meetings between the university’s management, led by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Prof. Abayomi Omotesho, and the Students’ Union, represented by its President, Joseph Ologundudu.
The revised charges vary between N114,720 and N215,820 for new students and N52,700 to N91,430 for returning students, contingent on their courses of study.
This marks a notable reduction from the initially released charges, which ranged from N138,240 to N254,640 for new students and N69,360 to N103,560 for returning students, based on their courses.

The university had initially released the charges on November 24, 2023, through its official social media platforms.
However, after engaging in discussions with the Students’ Union leadership on November 28, 2023, the university decided to review the charges downward.
In the UNILORIN news bulletin published on Monday, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor emphasized that the adjustment in charges was a response to the concerns raised by the students.
This move reflects the university’s commitment to fostering a supportive and conducive learning environment for all members of the academic community.
Expressing gratitude, the President of the Students’ Union, Joseph Ologundudu, appreciated the university management for its thoughtfulness in addressing the students’ concerns and making the necessary adjustments to the charges.
The collaborative effort between the management and the Students’ Union demonstrates a commitment to transparent dialogue and a supportive academic atmosphere.
