The Nigerian Army reported on Monday that its troops, along with hybrid forces, conducted an operation in Sambisa Forest, Borno State, resulting in the death of eight terrorists.

Several other terrorists sustained gunshot injuries and fled during the encounter. Additionally, three terrorists were killed and their hideouts destroyed in a separate raid on Sambisa forest on March 8, 2024.

Major General Onyema Nwachukwu, the Director of Army Public Relations, stated that the troops recovered five locally fabricated double barrel guns, two motorbikes, and assorted foodstuffs belonging to the terrorists during the operation.

In a related operation in Katsina, two terrorists were killed as troops cleared several villages in Kankara Local Government Area.

They recovered weapons and rescued a civilian held captive by the insurgents. Similar operations in Zamfara State resulted in the deaths of two terrorists, with the recovery of weapons and other materials.

Additionally, troops conducted an operation in Abia and Ebonyi states, destroying hideouts belonging to the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) fighters.

A firearms production factory was dismantled, and various weapons like 2 fabricated AK-47 rifles, one Rocket Propelled Grenade (RPG) bomb, 2 IPOB/ESN flags, as well as Welding and Filing machines and were seized.
