On Wednesday, January 17, 2024, 29 Yoruba Nation agitators were brought before the Chief Magistrates Court in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State.
They faced charges related to their alleged involvement in the failed attempt to invade the Governor’s Office and the state House of Assembly.
The case, designated with charge number Mi/520c/2024, pits the Commissioner of Police against the 29 suspects.

The incident occurred on Saturday, April 13, 2024, when masked individuals believed to be Yoruba Nation agitators stormed the state secretariat in Agodi, Ibadan, attempting to raise their flag before being dispersed by joint security personnel.
The suspects were charged with seven counts including treasonable felony, unlawful society, illegal possession of firearms, and conduct likely to cause a breach of peace.
According to Investigative Police Officer Bakare Rasaq, an inspector with the State Criminal Investigation Department in Iyaganku, Ibadan, the charges are in violation of Section 516 of the Criminal Code, Cap 38, Vol. II, Laws of Oyo State of Nigeria, 2000.
Earlier, on Monday, January 15, 2024, the state Commissioner of Police, Hamzat Adebola, had paraded 20 suspects in connection with the incident.
