The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has confirmed a tragic road accident on the Ibadan-Iseyin road on Thursday, resulting in the deaths of seven individuals.
According to a statement by Mr. Mayowa Odewo, the Public Relations Officer for the FRSC Oyo Sector Command, the deceased included five male adults, one female adult, and one female child. Out of the 22 people involved in the crash, 15 sustained varying degrees of injuries.
The accident involved a Nissan Urvan commercial bus (registration number: SEY 254 ZY) and a Mazda commercial bus (registration number: LGB 343 XA). The primary causes were identified as speed violations and driver fatigue.

The injured victims, comprising three male adults, nine female adults, and one female child, have been taken to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.
Four of the seven deceased victims have had their bodies claimed by family members, while the remaining three bodies have been deposited in a morgue.
The police from the Motor Traffic Division (MTD) Police Division in Moniya, Ibadan, have taken control of the two crashed vehicles, along with bags and other valuables recovered from the scene.
Notably, no victims were saved by seat belts or other defensive gadgets.
Mr. Odewo emphasized the importance of motorists adhering to traffic rules and regulations, including the use of traffic cautions on the road, to prevent avoidable accidents.
