A tragic incident occurred on Friday morning in Beute Metta, Lagos, as a two-storey building, including a penthouse, collapsed along Herbert Macaulay Way, claiming the lives of three individuals, including a 12-year-old girl.
The victims, identified as a woman, a man, and the young girl, were trapped in the rubble following the collapse.
Margaret Adeseye, the Director of Lagos State Fire Service, confirmed the fatalities resulting from the unfortunate incident.

According to the Lagos State Building Control Agency, the deceased individuals were considered illegal occupants of the building.
Ibrahim Farinloye, the Territorial Head of Lagos for the National Emergency Management Agency, revealed that the Lagos State government had issued multiple evacuation notices to the building’s owners.
It was noted that the original occupants had vacated the premises, and the building was reportedly sold four months ago.
The tragic event underscores the importance of adhering to safety regulations and evacuation notices issued by authorities.
