President Bola Tinubu took decisive action on Wednesday by dismissing five managing directors and Directors-General of parastatals within the Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development.
In addition, he temporarily suspended the Director-General of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority, Capt. Musa Shuaibu Nuhu, to facilitate an unbiased investigation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The move aligns with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, aiming to elevate Nigerian Civil Aviation to global standards in consumer protection and enhance the well-being of Nigerian passengers while addressing the sector’s inefficiencies.
The affected directors are as follows:
- Mr. Kabir Yusuf Mohammed – Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN)
- Mr. Tayib Adetunji Odunowo – Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA)
- Akinola Olateru – Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB)
- Prof. Mansur Bako Matazu – Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NIMET)
- Capt. Alkali Mahmud Modibbo – Nigerian College of Aviation Technology (NCAT)
The press statement indicated that the changes include the appointment of Mrs. Olubunmi Oluwaseun Kuku as the new Managing Director of FAAN and Engr.

Umar Ahmed Farouk as the substantive Managing Director of NAMA.
Other appointments include Mr. Alex Badeh Jr. as the Director-General of NSIB, Prof. Charles Anosike as the Director-General of NIMET, and Mr. Joseph Shaka Imalighwe as the Acting Rector of NCAT.
Furthermore, President Tinubu directed the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, to initiate a thorough process for recruiting a substantive Vice-Chancellor and other principal officers for the African Aviation and Aerospace University.
In concluding the statement, President Tinubu emphasized the new leadership’s responsibility to prioritize the safety, convenience, and comfort of the Nigerian people in all administrative activities across the aviation sector.
