President Bola Tinubu recently addressed members of the National Assembly, urging restraint in their oversight activities involving heads of Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).
Speaking at a Ramadan event in Abuja alongside Speaker Tajudeen Abbas and House leadership, Tinubu emphasized the importance of transparency and accountability in governance.
While acknowledging the necessity of oversight, he cautioned against excessive summoning of officials, citing potential disruptions to operations and service delivery.

Tinubu appealed for discretion in exercising oversight functions, highlighting the primary duties of each agency and the potential impact of distractions on their performance.
He expressed confidence in the National Assembly’s ability to promote good governance and applauded the collaborative relationship between the executive and legislature, which has facilitated the speedy passage of key bills.
Additionally, Tinubu urged legislators to remember their constituencies and extend compassion to the less privileged during Ramadan, emphasizing that their efforts are for the betterment of Nigeria as a whole.
