President Bola Tinubu has given his approval for the appointment of Adepoju Wura-Ola as the substantive Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS).
Wura-Ola, who had been serving in an acting capacity since June 1, 2023, received the official nod for the position.
The announcement was made in a statement on Monday by Ja’afaru Ahmed, the Secretary of the Civil Defence, Fire, Immigration, and Prisons Services Board.
Prior to her appointment, Wura-Ola held the position of Deputy Comptroller General, overseeing the Finance and Accounts Directorate within the NIS.

In her career, Wura-Ola has undergone various training programs, including those at the Immigration Training School in Kano, the Immigration Command and Staff College in Sokoto, the National Institute for Security Studies in Abuja, and specialized courses in Emotional Intelligence and Transformation Leadership.
Additionally, she is a fellow of the Pass Command Course, a fellow of the Security Institute of Nigeria, and a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada. Wura-Ola is married with children.
President Tinubu also approved the appointment of six Deputy Comptrollers-General for the Nigeria Immigration Service.
The appointees, set to assume their roles from January 1, 2023, are Zainab Lawal (Service No. 9679), Auna Aliyu (Service No. 9695), Nandap Nanna (Service No. 9702), Usman Babangida (Service No. 9728), Hassan Sadat (Service No. 9906), and Emenike Chidi (Service No. 11949).
