In an early morning jailbreak, three inmates have escaped from the Ijebu Ode Correctional Home in Ijebu Ode Local Government Area of Ogun State.
The jailbreak occurred around 3 am on Saturday.
Victor Oyeleke, the Public Relations Officer of Nigeria Correctional Service, Ogun State Command, confirmed the incident on Tuesday stating that a search party has been raised to apprehend the escaped inmates.
Oyeleke assured that the correctional service is working with other sister agencies to bring the escapees back.

The escaped inmates were reported to have scaled the facility’s fence to make their getaway.
Their identities and the nature of their convictions are as follows:
- Hammed Adeboyejo – Convicted of Murder/Armed Robbery
- Fatai Taiwo Akande – Convicted of Murder
- Oguntona Aliu – Convicted of Sexual Offence
A statement from the Ijebu Imushin Area Command of So-Safe Corps confirmed the jailbreak and urged the public to contact the nearest security agencies if they have any information about the whereabouts of the escaped inmates.
However, the escape remains a concern, and efforts are underway to locate and apprehend the fleeing inmates.
