A 28-year-old man, Sani Mohammed, has been sentenced to 30 months imprisonment by a Grade 1 Area Court in Dei-Dei, Abuja, for threatening a sales girl with a machete.
The sentencing was carried out by Judge Malam Saminu Suleiman after the accused pleaded guilty to charges of criminal trespass, criminal conspiracy, intimidation, and attempt to commit an offence.
The convict, who has no fixed address, along with two others at large, trespassed into the shop of Ikenna Oko on A49 Hamza Abdullahi road, Paze II, with the intention to steal.

Prosecution Counsel Mr J.S Atinko informed the court that they conspired and entered the shop, where they threatened the complainant’s sales girl with a machete in an attempt to steal her cell phone valued at N 150,000.
The judge, in his ruling, sentenced Sani Mohammed without an option of fine, emphasizing that it would serve as a deterrent to others.
The prosecution stated that the convict was apprehended after the salesgirl raised an alarm, and the charges against him contravened the provisions of sections 348, 396, and 95 of the Penal Code.
