The Kano State Command of the Nigerian Police has arrested 18-year-old Yusuf Haruna in connection with the murder of a renowned Imam, Mallam Mohammed Shuaibu.
The arrest was made after the Imam advised Haruna and his gang to refrain from smoking marijuana on the mosque premises, according to a statement by the Command’s Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Abdullahi Haruna.
The PPRO disclosed that Yusuf Haruna, also known as Lagwatsani, is a notorious thug from Dala LGA of Kano and was responsible for the senseless murder of the 45-year-old Imam.

The suspect reportedly attacked and stabbed the Imam with a sharp knife while he was performing ablution, leading to his tragic death.
The motive behind the attack was revealed as a result of the Imam’s warning to Haruna and his gang to cease smoking Indian hemp around the mosque premises.
SP Kiyawa emphasized that the Kano State Police Commissioner, CP Usaini Gumel, is committed to conducting thorough investigations to ensure justice is served.
The PPRO urged the public to collaborate with the police by reporting any suspicious activities to the nearest Police Station or through emergency contacts for prompt action, emphasizing the importance of deterring criminal actions through such investigations.
