The traditional ruler of Neni community in Anaocha Local Government Area of Anambra State, Igwe Damian Ezeani, who was suspended for conferring chieftaincy titles without proper clearance, has issued an apology to the Anambra State government and Governor Chukwuma Soludo.
The state government had suspended Igwe Ezeani for allegedly not following the Code of Conduct for traditional rulers in the state before conferring chieftaincy titles on individuals, including Senator Ifeanyi Ubah.
In a four-minute video posted on social media, Igwe Ezeani expressed his apology, acknowledging the suspension and admitting his failure to obtain appropriate clearance before conferring the chieftaincy titles.
He sought forgiveness from the Anambra State government and Governor Soludo, emphasizing his sincerity and humility in offering the apology.

The traditional ruler, who also chairs the Anambra Central Traditional Rulers Forum, apologized on behalf of the entire Neni community, expressing a desire to maintain the positive relationship between the community and the state government.
He highlighted his upbringing in the first generation of Christians, where apologizing for offenses was ingrained.
The Anambra State Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy, and Community Affairs, Tony Collins Nwabuwanne, did not respond to calls and messages seeking his reaction.
However, Christian Aburime, Soludo’s Press Secretary, confirmed the awareness of the apology, indicating that the Commissioner for Local Government Affairs would respond to it soon.
