Bright Osayi-Samuel, the Super Eagles defender, has finally addressed the recent altercation during a Turkish Super Lig match between Fenerbache and Trabzonspor last Sunday.
Osayi-Samuel, captured in a video, was seen retaliating against aggressive Trabzonspor fans following their team’s 3-2 defeat at home to Fenerbahce.
In the footage, the Nigerian international was observed intervening, knocking down a pitch invader while shielding his teammate from the hostile supporters who charged at the visiting players.

“I had to defend my team as the fans attacked us, some carrying weapons. It was self-defense,” Osayi-Samuel stated, as quoted by Score Nigeria.
“My teammates suffered injuries, some were frightened, and others joined me in defending the team.”
Osayi-Samuel expressed that the victory against Trabzonspor was particularly gratifying for him.
“We managed to win and avenge our sole league defeat against the same team, who beat us at our home in the first leg,” he remarked.
Fenerbahce currently holds 79 points, trailing leaders Galatasaray by two points with eight matches remaining in the season.
Osayi-Samuel is anticipated to maintain his position in Nigeria’s starting lineup for their upcoming international friendly against Mali on Tuesday in Marrakech, Morocco.
