A newlywed woman, Habiba Ibrahim, allegedly cut off the manhood of her 40-year-old husband, Salisu Idris.

The incident occurred on May 26, after Idris returned from the mosque where he had observed the early morning Muslim prayers.

There was no given reason for her actions, according to our correspondent.

Habiba was arrested by the police in the Zaria area of Kaduna State.

Narrating his ordeal, Idris, a commercial motorcycle rider, explained that he was lying on his bed when his wife suddenly attacked him with a sharp knife, nearly severing his manhood.

He credited his neighbor’s timely intervention with preventing her from completing the act.

Idris expressed his shock over his wife’s actions, noting that there had been no prior misunderstandings.

Following the attack, Idris was rushed to General Hospital, Makarfi, and later referred to Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital, Zaria, for medical attention.

He stated, “I’m more concerned about my health right now and not thinking of remarrying shortly.”

Idris’ mother, Rabi Salisu, who is caring for him in the hospital, mentioned that he had never complained to her about his wife.

She also noted that Habiba’s parents are worried and willing to cover his medical bills.
