On February 13, 2024, tragedy struck as seven individuals lost their lives in two separate fatal auto crashes on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in Ogun State.
Additionally, fourteen others were injured in the incidents, which occurred near the Ogere Toll Gate and a short distance from the Foursquare Camp.
The first crash, near the Foursquare Camp, involved a passenger bus identified as SMK 685 YG. The driver, allegedly speeding, fell asleep at the wheel.

This led to a collision with a moving truck marked ZE 121 OG, as reported by Chief Route Commander Florence Okpeh, the spokesperson of the State Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps. The bus subsequently lost control after a tire burst, resulting in fatalities.
In the second accident at the Ogere Toll Gate, a motorcycle registered as GGM 72 VV collided with a jeep marked KSF 512 FW.
According to Commander Babatunde Akinbiyi, spokesperson of the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE), the motorcycle, reportedly violating traffic regulations, crashed into the jeep.
Tragically, both the rider and passenger of the motorcycle lost their lives at the scene, while the driver of the jeep and the passengers sustained injuries.
