The Niger State Police Command has confirmed that the search for the mother of a newborn, abandoned by the roadside in Tayi village, Minna, is still ongoing.
The infant, discovered covered in soldier ants, was rescued by neighbors after being dumped just hours after birth.
Wasiu Abiodun, the Police Public Relations Officer, provided an update on the investigation, stating that the State Child Rights Agency has taken custody of the baby.
The child was promptly transferred to a medical facility for necessary attention.

The incident was reported by a resident of Tayi village on December 3, 2023, to the GRA Division in Minna.
As of now, no arrests have been made, and the police continue their efforts to identify and locate the woman responsible for abandoning the newborn.
Abiodun emphasized that the case is actively under investigation, and updates will be provided as the search progresses.
