On Monday, Saudi Arabia announced that the crescent moon of Shawwal had not been sighted, signaling that fasting would continue into Tuesday.
The Eid-El-Fitr celebration would subsequently take place on Wednesday, April 10, marking the beginning of the new Islamic month.
This announcement was made via Haramin’s official Facebook page, a prominent platform for the global Muslim community.

The post expressed hopes for the remaining days of Ramadan to be utilized in acts pleasing to Allah, with prayers for acceptance of fasting, prayers, and good deeds, as well as for the blessing of witnessing many more Ramadans in good health.
In Nigeria, however, Muslims were advised to await the announcement from the Sultan of Sokoto and President General of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, Sa’ad Abubakar, later in the day.
The Sultan had previously urged Muslims to keep watch for the new moon signifying the start of Shawwal 1445 AH.
In a statement by the Chairman of the Advisory Committee on Religious Affairs of the Sultanate Council in Sokoto, individuals were encouraged to report the sighting of the new moon promptly to the relevant authorities for communication to the Sultan.
This proactive approach aimed to ensure accurate determination of Eid-El-Fitr festivities in Nigeria.
