The salaries of more than 2,000 civil servants working in various Federal Government ministries, departments, and agencies have been withheld.
Sources suggest that the delay may be linked to the recent verification exercise conducted by the Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation.
A senior civil servant from the Federal Ministry of Defence, speaking anonymously, revealed that a significant number of workers in the ministry had not received their salaries.

The delay is reportedly connected to discrepancies identified during the verification process carried out on the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS).
Another senior civil servant explained that the salary withholding affected a certain percentage of civil servants due to discrepancies on the IPPIS platform.
It’s estimated that around 2,000 civil servants are directly impacted by the salary delay.
The Association of Senior Civil Servants had earlier warned that approximately 5,000 civil servants risked forfeiting their November and December salaries due to IPPIS verification and related discrepancies.
The verification process involves confirming details such as the date of first appointment and dates of birth.
The spokesperson for the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation, Bawa Mokwa, acknowledged the situation but noted that not all civil servants were affected.
The National President of the Association of Senior Civil Servants, Tommy Etim, stated that efforts were being made to resolve the discrepancies and ensure that salaries, including arrears, are paid in a timely manner.
He urged affected civil servants to check the Head of Civil Service’s website for updates on the ongoing process.
