The Ijaw National Congress (INC) has urged President Bola Tinubu to intervene and put a stop to the attempts by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, and his supporters to remove Rivers State Governor, Siminialayi Fubara from office.
In a statement released on Monday, INC, led by President Prof Benjamin Okaba, expressed concern over what they termed as the open support of security agencies for the Martins Amaewhule-led faction of state lawmakers loyal to Wike.
This faction was allegedly given protection to hold a sitting in defiance of a court order instructing all parties to maintain the status quo and refrain from official actions.
Despite previous interventions by Tinubu and other stakeholders, INC noted that Wike remained determined to impeach Governor Fubara.

Okaba implored President Tinubu to intervene once again and call Wike and relevant federal agencies to order, emphasizing that their actions posed a threat to the stability of Nigeria.
Okaba criticized Wike for making provocative statements on national television, accusing Governor Fubara of various misconducts without proper investigation.
The INC leader questioned whether Wike should be allowed to make such scandalous claims without facing sanctions from security agencies or President Tinubu.
INC commended Governor Fubara for maintaining a calm and mature disposition in the face of insults and provocations by the FCT minister.
They also praised the Rivers State Council of Traditional Rulers and other stakeholders who prioritized the interests of the state.
In conclusion, Okaba urged all Rivers people and well-meaning Nigerians to stand with Governor Fubara, emphasizing the importance of protecting democratic institutions and ensuring that justice and the will of the masses prevail.
