A bill aiming to establish Ijebu State, separate from Ogun State, is set to be presented before the House of Representatives, alongside proposals for two other states in the South West region.
The other proposed states include Ife/Ijesha State in Osun State and Oke Ogun State in Oyo State.
The sponsor of this bill, to be presented to the House, is Honourable Oluwole Oke of Obokun/Onade Federal Constituency of Osun State.

According to the provisions outlined in the bill, the capital of the proposed Ijebu State would be Ijebu Ode, while Ile-Ife is slated to be the capital for the proposed Ife/Ijesha State, and Iseyin for the proposed Oke Ogun State.
Under the proposed plan, the areas encompassing Remo North, Sagamu, Ogun Waterside, Ikenne, Odogbolu, Ijebu Ode, Ijebu East, Ijebu North East, and Ijebu East would fall within the boundaries of the proposed Ijebu State.
It’s noteworthy that the proposal for Ijebu State was initially introduced in the 2014 National Conference Report, yet it awaits implementation.
