In response to the recent Boko Haram attack in the communities of Bokkos Local Government Area in Plateau State, some women engaged in protests and subsequently set fire to the house of the district head, Michael Adanchi.

The attack on Christmas Eve resulted in over 100 people being killed across 17 villages in Barkin Ladi, Mangu, and Bokkos Local Government Areas.

More than 10,000 individuals were displaced, seeking refuge in churches, mosques, schools, and private residences.

The incident involving the burning of the district head’s house occurred around 12:30 pm on Friday.

A source, as reported by Daily Trust, revealed that the women took this action following the arrest of community members allegedly involved in the recent killings.

The protesters expressed their anger at the police station before proceeding to the traditional ruler’s residence, accusing him of being a sellout. Shortly after reaching the house, they set it ablaze.

Confirming the incident, the state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Alfred Alabo, stated that the command would release a statement on the matter.

Saving Point Media also reported fresh threats of attacks on a Plateau State community on December 29, 2023, just four days after the killing of 195 persons in 17 communities.

Stanley Kavwam, Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the Middle Belt Forum, disclosed that terrorists had sent a threat letter to the Pushit community in Mangu Local Government Area.

The police acknowledged the intelligence, assuring that they were working on addressing the threat. Residents in Pushit confirmed their awareness of the terrorist threat letter.
