President Bola Tinubu is scheduled to convene a crucial meeting on Friday afternoon with aides of Ondo State Governor Rotimi Akeredolu and Deputy Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

The objective of the meeting is to address the prevailing leadership crisis in the state.

Sources within the Villa have confirmed that the meeting, expected to commence at 2 pm, will include key stakeholders such as members of the Ondo State House of Assembly.

This development follows a plea from Ondo State Elders and Leaders who, just two days ago, urged the President to intervene promptly in the constitutional crisis within the state.

The elders expressed concerns about a potential breakdown of law and order and called upon both the state and national leaderships of the All Progressives Congress, the governing party, to provide necessary guidance and instill discipline within their ranks.

In a letter addressed to the President and signed by convener Reuben Fasontanti and Secretary Bakkita Bello, the elders specifically advised against the impeachment of either the Governor or the Deputy Governor by the State House of Assembly.

Their appeal emphasized the importance of allowing the three arms of government to collaboratively find a lasting solution to the ongoing crisis.

The political landscape in Ondo State has been marked by uncertainty in recent months, notably due to Governor Akeredolu’s absence for medical treatment in Germany.

The impending meeting at the Presidential Villa aims to navigate the complex situation and foster resolution among the involved parties.
