The Nigerian Police Force has expressed strong disapproval of the popular slang “No Go Gree for Anybody,” cautioning that it could take action against those using the phrase.
The slang has gained widespread popularity, with many interpreting it as a call to stay true to one’s beliefs and resist external influences.
According to the police spokesperson, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, during a press briefing on Wednesday, the force has received intelligence suggesting that the slogan has the potential to incite a revolution in the country.
Adejobi warned that although the phrase may seem like ordinary talk, in the security community, it is perceived as a dangerous slogan that could trigger crises.

“Let me say that the new slogan for 2023, 2024 for our young ones is ‘no go gree for anybody.’ We have been informed from our intelligence that this slogan is coming from a revolutionary sector that may likely cause a problem across the country,” Adejobi stated.
The slang has already gained visibility on social media, with memes and posts circulating, featuring symbols of resistance and disregard for authority.
Some memes depict scenarios like a tricycle overtaken by a larger vehicle, symbolizing a disregard for the right of way.
It’s worth noting that the police’s reaction comes amidst a growing trend of social and political activism in Nigeria, particularly among the youth.
The slogan, with its apparent call for resistance and non-conformity, seems to resonate with a segment of the population discontent with the status quo.
