The Ondo State Executive Council successfully convened its meeting on Thursday after a prolonged period of political crisis within the executive branch.

The session, held at the Governor’s Office in Alagbaka, Akure, was chaired by Deputy Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, who recently returned to the state.

The state Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Mrs Bamidele Ademola-Olateju,  told journalists after the meeting that, the meeting addressed various issues, including the resolutions from a recent meeting with President Bola Tinubu in Abuja.

Key decisions included maintaining the status quo, avoiding the dissolution of the executive members, and upholding peace.

The council, according to Ademola-Olateju also discussed the distribution of palliatives to alleviate the economic impact of the fuel subsidy removal by the Federal Government.

Over 1,200 bags of rice were distributed across the state’s 18 local government areas, with additional provisions of local food items.

The government announced arrangements with First Bank to facilitate payments through wallets and assured the commencement of the N35,000 wage allowance this month.

The Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Mrs. Bamidele Ademola-Olateju, refuted claims of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu’s signature forgery and warned against misinformation causing unrest.

Meanwhile, the Court of Appeal in Abuja dismissed the Ondo State House of Assembly’s appeal challenging a judgment preventing the impeachment of the deputy governor.

The appeal was withdrawn by the Assembly, citing a political solution to the issue and emphasizing a commitment to peace.

The court, led by Justice Haruna Tsammani, confirmed the withdrawal of the appeal, marking a step toward resolving the political turmoil in Ondo State.
