The Oyo State Government has condemned the invasion of the State Secretariat in Ibadan by self-proclaimed Yoruba Nation agitators on Saturday, describing it as an act of terrorism.

The state’s Commissioner for Information, Dotun Oyelade, spoke out against the invasion, emphasizing that there are peaceful ways to advocate for change without resorting to violence.

Eyewitnesses reported that the masked men were stationed at various locations within the vicinity, leading businesses and residents around Bodija, Ikolaba, and Awolowo to lock their shops and doors, disrupting normal daily activities.

The Commissioner warned that the sponsors of the invasion have put themselves in serious trouble, especially those attempting to forcefully enter the state Governor and State House of Assembly’s office with an arsenal of weapons.

He identified this act as an act of terrorism and expressed confidence that justice would prevail.

Dotun Oyelade also praised the conduct of Prof Banji Akintoye, a prominent Yoruba nation agitator, as representing the wisdom and civilization of the Yoruba race.

He reassured the public that Oyo State remains peaceful, despite the unfortunate incident on Saturday.

Since the incident, normalcy has been restored in Ibadan, and residents have resumed their daily activities.
