The Olugbon of Orile-Igbon in Oyo State, Oba Francis Alao, explained why Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), sat on one of his palace chairs during a recent occasion in his domain.
There was a viral photo on social media showing Pastor Adeboye sitting on the royal chair, which led to criticism of the monarch for allowing it.
In a statement personally signed, the Olugbon clarified the situation, stating that Pastor Adeboye was in Orile-Igbon for an evangelism program held at the Olugbon High School playground.

The monarch received Pastor Adeboye in his living room before proceeding to the venue of the program. As a mark of support and honor, the Olugbon offered one of the ceremonial royal chairs reserved for top dignitaries for Pastor Adeboye to use at the program.
The Olugbon emphasized that the chair provided was not the specific one reserved for the Olugbon and that the throne of the ancient town of Orile-Igbon remains sacrosanct.
He sought understanding from those expressing concerns about the issue and reiterated the significance of the different types of chairs in the palace.
Additionally, the Olugbon extended Christmas felicitations to Christians and encouraged them to reflect on the blessings of God during this season.
He urged followers of Christ to make new commitments to a life that mirrors Christ in righteousness, honesty, and love for fellow human beings.
