In the past week, operations conducted across northern regions of Nigeria resulted in significant gains against terrorism and insecurity, with no fewer than 188 terrorists killed and 330 arrested.

Additionally, troops rescued 133 kidnapped individuals. Maj. Gen. Edward Buba, Director of Defence Media Operations, emphasized the armed forces’ commitment to decisively combating terrorism and ensuring citizens’ safety.

These recent achievements have strengthened the military’s position in the ongoing war against terrorists.

In parallel efforts against oil theft, 36 suspects were apprehended, and stolen crude oil worth N637 million was recovered.

Troops in the Niger Delta region dismantled 51 dugout pits, 24 boats, 21 storage tanks, and 4 vehicles, while also seizing 28 cooking ovens and uncovering 21 illegal refining sites.

A substantial amount of stolen crude oil and illegally refined AGO were confiscated.

Furthermore, significant quantities of weapons and ammunition were recovered, including AK47 rifles, locally fabricated guns, Dane guns, automatic pump action guns, pistols, grenades, and improvised explosive devices (IEDs).

Additionally, various types of ammunition, magazines, radios, vehicles, motorcycles, bicycles, mobile phones, and monetary assets were seized.

These operations reflect ongoing efforts by the military to maintain security across the country.

Between January and March 2024, a total of 2,351 terrorists were neutralized, and 2,308 were arrested, demonstrating the military’s continuous commitment to combating terrorism and ensuring the safety of citizens.
