Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has issued a legal threat against lawyer Hassan Oladotun for allegedly disseminating a report aimed at disqualifying him from the state’s gubernatorial primary election.

On June 2, 2023, Oladotun petitioned the Nigeria Police Force to investigate the academic credentials of the governor. Following the investigation, Oladotun obtained a copy of the investigation report through a Freedom of Information request.

A copy of the report, signed by DCP Tahir Usman, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Force Criminal Investigation Department, Abuja, indicated that the police found no evidence that Governor Aiyedatiwa attended Ikosi High School, Ikosi-Ketu, Lagos, as claimed.

Despite this, the police, in a statement on Friday by Force Spokesperson Muyiwa Adejobi, denied the authenticity of the report.

In response, Oladotun petitioned the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, and the Police Service Commission, maintaining that the report was genuine, urging them to prevent any alteration.

In a new development, Governor Aiyedatiwa, through his lawyer Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa (SAN), asserted that the governor sat for the West African School Certificate Examination and his results were authentic.

In a letter dated April 8 addressed to Oladotun, Adegboruwa provided details of Aiyedatiwa’s examination, challenging Oladotun to verify the information.

The letter demanded a public apology published in three newspapers, withdrawal of publications regarding the governor’s certificate, and compensation for the false publications. Adegboruwa warned that failure to meet these demands within seven days would lead to legal action.
