Mrs. Oluwatosin Aina, a devoted Christian Religious Knowledge teacher at Olokinne High School, Ojowo, Ijebu Igbo, reportedly collapsed and passed away while on duty.

According to a source identified as a close family friend, Mrs. Aina on thursday had driven herself to the school and began feeling unwell shortly after arriving.

Despite seeking permission from the Principal to attend to her health, tragedy struck as she slumped beside her car.

The Grade Level 14 officer, known for her dedication and love for both students and colleagues, was swiftly rushed to the annex of the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital in Ijebu Igbo, where she was confirmed dead.

The sudden demise of Mrs. Aina has cast a pall of mourning over the entire school community, highlighting the impact of her loss on those who knew and worked with her.

The deceased, aged in her 50s, was married to a retired Principal in Ijebu Igbo.

A concerned teacher from the area, speaking anonymously, expressed worry over the increasing rate of teacher deaths in the state.

The teacher attributed this unfortunate trend to the stress faced by the limited number of educators, urging authorities to address the shortage to safeguard the well-being of the teaching workforce.

Felix Agbesanwa, the Chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Secondary Schools in Ogun State, extended condolences to the family of the deceased teacher.

He acknowledged the ongoing efforts by the government to address teacher shortages, noting the recent employment of 2000 teachers and the permanent employment of 1000 OgunTeach interns.

While appreciating these steps, he urged further measures to enhance the overall well-being of educators in the state, in line with the promises made by the Governor.
