Since the launch of the automated passport platform on January 8 by the Nigeria Immigration Service, a total of 32,462 individuals have submitted online applications for travel passports.
The announcement was made by the Comptroller General of Immigration, Caroline Adepoju, during her inspection of the facility at the Immigration Office in Victoria Island, Lagos.

Out of the total applications received, 16,113 have been approved for biometric capture and production, while 1,438 others are under scrutiny for various reasons.
Additionally, 1,505 applications are awaiting approval.
The new automated process involves online submission of passport applications, followed by processing and production, ultimately delivering the passports to successful applicants.
