Customs officials at the international airport arrested a Nigerian woman on Tuesday for allegedly smuggling cocaine worth ₹82 crore (N75 million) into the country, as per an official statement released on Thursday.
The accused was apprehended upon her arrival from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, and was subsequently subjected to a detailed inspection of her luggage.
The Customs authorities, acting on specific intelligence, discovered concealed material inside two blue trolley bags carried by the passenger.

The examination revealed a total of 5.8 kg of a white powdery substance suspected to be narcotics.
A video shared by Asian News International on Thursday included the statement, “Based on specific intelligence, Customs at IGI Airport has arrested one Nigerian passenger who arrived from Addis Ababa having concealed cocaine weighing 5.88kg valued at Rs 82.448 crores in her bags. The drug has been seized under the NDPS Act, 1985. Investigations are underway: Customs.”
Upon undergoing a diagnostic test, the substance appeared to contain a commercial quantity of cocaine, with an international value of ₹82.446 crore (N75 million), according to the statement.
Investigations into the matter are currently underway.
