President Bola Tinubu, during a courtesy visit from the African Association of Automotive Manufacturers and the Nigerian Automotive Manufacturers Association, pledged to expedite the passage of legislative bills aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s automobile industry.
Represented by his Chief of Staff, Mr. Femi Gbajabiamila, Tinubu urged local manufacturers to prioritize producing high-quality, affordable vehicles for Nigerians, aligning with his administration’s recent launch of a consumer credit scheme.
The visit, confirmed by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, involved a delegation led by the Minister of Industry, Trade, and Investment, Ms. Doris Uzoka-Anite, along with key industry stakeholders.

Tinubu assured assistance in facilitating the speedy passage of legislative bills and stressed the importance of locally manufactured vehicles meeting the highest quality standards to complement government revitalization efforts in the industry.
The delegation updated Tinubu’s Chief of Staff on ongoing efforts to commence vehicle and spare parts manufacturing in Nigeria.
They revealed that a legislative bill aimed at driving the automotive industry was being drafted and reviewed by the Federal Ministry of Justice.
Additionally, they highlighted the industry’s potential to generate significant employment for Nigerian youths and alleviate foreign exchange pressures.
Gbajabiamila expressed gratitude to the delegation, affirming the President’s commitment to Nigeria’s industrialization through various policies.
He urged the associations to focus on producing vehicles affordable to all Nigerians, especially in light of Tinubu’s initiative to provide consumer credit for millions to access cars and essential goods and services.
