NIGERIAN ARMY DIRECT SHORT SERVICE COMMISSION COURSE 28/2024

About: The Nigerian Army, the largest component of the Nigerian Armed Forces, responsible for land warfare operations, invites applications from eligible Nigerians for the Direct Short Service Commission (DSSC) Course 28/2024. This commission is open to both civilians and serving military personnel, including those sponsored to civil institutions by any of the Services of the Nigerian Armed Forces.

Corps and Services:

  1. Nigerian Army Engineers:
    • Qualifications: BSc (Eng), B Eng (Second Class Lower) degree, or HND (Lower Credit) in Land Surveyor, Structural Engineering, Architecture, Building Engineering/Technology, Estate Management, Civil Engineering, GIS/Survey, registered with COREN.
  2. Nigerian Army Signals:
    • Qualifications: BSc, B Tech, B Eng (Second Class Lower) degree, or HND (Lower Credit) in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, Cyber Security, Software Developer, Telecommunications Engineering, Network Designer, UAV Pilot, Database Management, etc.
  3. Nigerian Army Intelligence Corps:
    • Qualifications: BSc, B Eng, B Tech, BA (Second Class Lower) degree, or HND (Lower Credit) in History, Linguistics, Computational Linguistics, Political Science, Computer Science, Information Technology Systems, Cyber/Network Security, Social Media Specialist, Data Analyst, etc.
  4. Nigerian Army Corps of Supply and Transport:
    • Qualifications: BSc, BA (Second Class Lower) degree, or HND (Lower Credit) in Petrochemical Engineering, Dieticians, Food and Nutrition, Automotive Engineering, Logistics Management, etc. Relevant working experience is an advantage.
  5. Nigerian Army Medical Corps:
    • Various specialties for Medical Consultants. Medical Doctors (Non-Consultants), Nurses, Professionals Allied to Medicine, Pharmacists.
    • Proof of registration with regulatory bodies and current practicing license required.
  6. Nigerian Army Ordnance Corps:
    • Qualifications: BSc, B Eng, BA (Second Class Lower) degree, or HND (Lower Credit) in Textile Technology, Explosives Engineering, Warehouse Management, Industrial Design, Printing Technology, Graphics Art, etc.
  7. Nigerian Army Electrical and Mechanical Engineers:
    • Qualifications: B Eng, BSc (Eng) (Second Class Lower) degree, or HND (Lower Credit) in Automotive, Electronics, Mechatronics, Systems, Mechanical Engineering, etc. Registered with COREN.
  8. Nigerian Army Corps of Military Police:
    • Qualifications: LLB BL, BSc, BA (Second Class Lower) degree, or HND (Lower Credit) in Forensic Science, Psychology, Veterinary Doctors, Criminology.
  9. Nigerian Army Education Corps:
    • Qualifications: BSc (Ed) or BA (Ed) Second Class Lower degree in various disciplines. Proof of registration with professional bodies required.
  10. Nigerian Army Finance Corps:
    • Qualifications: BA (Second Class Lower) degree, or HND (Lower Credit) in Accounting, Economics, Banking and Finance. Professional Accountancy qualification is compulsory.
  11. Nigerian Army Band Corps:
    • Qualifications: BA (Second Class Lower) degree or HND Lower Credit or equivalent in Music with ARAM and ARCM, Musicologist.
  12. Directorate of Army Public Relations:
    • Qualifications: BSc, BA (Second Class Lower) degree, or HND (Lower Credit) in Journalism, Digital Media Studies, Mass Communication, Animation, Graphic Design, etc.
  13. Directorate of Legal Service:
    • Qualifications: LLB BL from a recognized institution. A minimum of 2 years Post Law School legal practice is required.
  14. Directorate of Army Physical Training:
    • Qualifications: BSc or BA (Second Class Lower) degree, or HND (Lower Credit) in Human Kinetics, Sports Law, Physiotherapy, Sports Psychology, etc. Certificate from National Institute of Sports is required for Sports Coaching.
  15. Directorate of Chaplain Services:
    • Roman Catholic, Protestant, Islamic Affairs: Various qualifications for each denomination. Proof of ordination and good standing required.

Entry Requirements:

  • Nigerian citizenship.
  • Male or female between 20 and 30 years of age (25 – 40 for Medical Consultants).
  • Medical, mental, and physical fitness according to NA standards.
  • Good character attestation from referees.
  • Minimum height of 1.68m (for males) and 1.65m (for females).
  • No convictions, cult/society/fraternity affiliations, or bodily inscriptions.
  • Possess a first degree with not less than Second Class Lower Division or HND (Lower Credit).
  • NYSC discharge certificate or valid exemption.
  • Graduates with professional qualifications must be duly registered.
  • Original copies of educational certificates (2014 to date), birth certificate, and state of origin certificate.
  • Military personnel must present valid military identity cards and letters of recommendation.
  • Candidates with swimming ability have an added advantage.

Conditions of Service:

  • DSSC granted for 15 years (8 years initial, renewable for 7 years).
  • Conversion to Direct Regular Commission (DRC) based on eligibility and availability of vacancies.
  • Probation for the first 3 years of service.

  • Print out the online generated photo-slip, signed by relevant authorities.
