In a series of coordinated operations, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has successfully intercepted over two tons of illicit substances in various states across Nigeria.

The agency’s spokesman, Mr. Femi Babafemi, revealed the details of the significant drug busts that took place over the last week.

The operations included a raid on a warehouse at Obi Camp in Owan West Local Government Area of Edo, where NDLEA operatives seized 338kg of Indian hemp concealed in sacks of charcoal.

Another operation in Ikhin Forest in Owan East Local Government Area of Edo resulted in the confiscation of 235kg of the same psychoactive substance.

On Wednesday, November 22, a suspect, Onah Ikechukwu (32), was apprehended in Jattu, Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo, with 11,690 capsules of tramadol, 295 bottles of codeine syrup, and various quantities of Molly, Indian hemp, and Methamphetamine.

In Lagos Island, a raid on Enu-Owa Street on the same day led to the seizure of 40,500 ampoules of pentazocine injection and 440,000 pills of tramadol in a store belonging to a fleeing suspect, Ebuka Amechi.

In Onitsha, Anambra, two suspects – Afamefuna Ibekwe (37) and Sunday Onweh (41) – were found in possession of 135,600 capsules of tramadol and 950gm of Indian hemp at Nkpor, Akuzor, and Ose-Ogbaijo, respectively.

NDLEA operatives in Ekiti seized 288kg of Indian hemp at Odo-Owa Forest in Ijero Local Government Area on Saturday, November 25. Another 116kg of Indian hemp were confiscated from a suspect, Chinagoram Obaru (24), at Iju Forest on Thursday, November 23.

In a separate operation, 859kg of Indian hemp, concealed among bags of sugar in a truck destined for Mokwa, Niger state, were recovered.

The consignment, initially loaded in Ogbese, Ondo State, had been hidden among bags of cement in a truck before being trans-loaded into another articulated vehicle in Ogun.

On Friday, November 24, NDLEA operatives in Ogun arrested two suspects – Adamu Ibrahim and Nura Sani – at the Ileke trailer garage, on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
