In 2023, a total 108 female drug users were arrested by the Anti-Narcotic Agency in Ogun State for drug-related offenses.
They were among 605 arrested by the anti-narcotic agency in the state during the period.
During the same period, significant quantities of illicit drugs were seized across the state, including 14,405.32 kilograms of cannabis sativa, 1,371 kilograms of methamphetamine, 881 kilograms of heroin, and 1,986 kilograms of cocaine.
The State Commander of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Ibibia Odili, announced these statistics to newsmen in Abeokuta.

She disclosed that out of those arrested, 81 were prosecuted and convicted.
The NDLEA commander stated that the average age of those arrested ranged between 30 and 60 years, with some individuals in their seventies also apprehended.
Explaining the approach towards individuals arrested for drug use, the NDLEA commander mentioned that they were not prosecuted.
Researchers concluded that they were suffering from a chronic brain disorder. Consequently, 34 of them were counseled as they required help, treatment, and rehabilitation instead of prosecution.
