Mali secured a 2-0 victory over Nigeria in an international friendly match held on March 27, 2024. The clash saw the Eagles of Mali outplay the Super Eagles of Nigeria, with goals scored in both halves of the game.
Mali took the lead in the 18th minute with a goal from E. Toure, and despite efforts from Nigeria, they couldn’t equalize before halftime. In the 84th minute, K. Doumbia sealed Mali’s victory with a goal from the center of the box.
This defeat marked the first loss for interim coach George Finidi, who took over after Jose Peseiro’s contract expired. Finidi had previously won his debut match against the Black Stars of Ghana in a friendly last Friday.

In response to the defeat, Ghana’s national team head coach, Otto Addo, expressed his belief that the Black Stars were unfortunate in their recent 2-1 loss to Nigeria during an international friendly.
