Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has issued a warning, stating that he will use the instrument of office to fight back if various court cases challenging the enthronement of Oba Ghadi Olaoye as the Soun of Ogbomosoland are not withdrawn.
The legal dispute arose when one of the contenders to the throne, Prince Kabir Olaoye, approached the court to challenge Oba Olaoye’s emergence and the process that led to his appointment.
Justice Kareem Adeyimika Adedokun, the Presiding Judge, issued an order (in suit no HOG/27/2022) directing all parties to maintain the status quo ante until the hearing and determination of the appeal already filed by Oba Olaoye’s defense and the state government.

During the presentation of the Instrument of Office and Staff of Office to Oba Olaoye at Ogbomoso Township Stadium, Governor Makinde urged litigants to withdraw the pending cases within the week.
He warned that failure to do so might prompt him to use the instrument of office to fight back.

He emphasized his commitment to serving the vision with his experiences, relationships, and skills acquired over the years.

Dignitaries present at the ceremony included Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke; Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi; Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse III; Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Lekan Balogun; immediate past Vice-President, Yemi Osinbajo; former Minister of Information, Lai Muhammed, and other notable Nigerians.
