The scarcity has been observed to affect transport fares, with reports of increased fares on some routes due to the fuel shortage.
According to statements from petroleum industry stakeholders, the scarcity is attributed to low stock over the Easter weekend and logistical challenges in replenishing supplies to retail outlets.
Some depots were reportedly facing outages due to truck supplies without adequate replenishment.
The Major Energies Marketers Association of Nigeria (MEMAN) has confirmed the shortage but assured the public that supplies have resumed, with efforts being made to expedite distribution and stabilize the supply chain before the upcoming holidays.
The NNPC spokesperson acknowledged the queues at NNPC stations, attributing them to price differentials, while MEMAN emphasized ongoing efforts to address the situation and ensure adequate fuel supply to retail outlets.
Efforts are underway to address the fuel scarcity, with reassurances from industry stakeholders that the situation will improve in the coming days as depots receive more supplies and distribution efforts are intensified.
