The Sharia police in Kano State have initiated a manhunt for six TikTok creators who are accused of posting content deemed as unIslamic and indecent on the social media app.
Aminu Daurawa, the Commandant General of the State Hisbah Board, informed BBC Hausa that the TikTokers, with millions of followers, failed to comply with previous orders to moderate their content.
Daurawa mentioned that he had a meeting with the TikTok creators in September, during which they agreed to adhere to Islamic guidelines in the videos they posted on social media.

Despite the agreement, the creators allegedly continued to violate the guidelines.
The Commandant General assured that, upon their arrest, the six TikTokers would not be immediately charged in court.
Instead, they would be required to sign an agreement committing to uphold Islamic values.
However, Daurawa warned that if they persist in violating the guidelines for the third time, they will face charges in court.
