A tragic incident unfolded on Christmas day in the Orita J4 Pipeline Ogbere area of Ogun State as two individuals lost their lives during an illegal bunkering operation.
The victims were reportedly trapped in a pit for several hours before assistance could reach them.
According to a police source at the Ogbere Division, residents of the community had allegedly dug a deep pit for illegal bunkering activities.
The unfortunate incident occurred when the pit caved in, trapping the two suspects who were already inside.

Images shared depicted the lifeless bodies of the deceased covered in mud, lying on the ground where the illegal bunkering was suspected to have taken place.
Confirming the incident, the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Odutola Omolola, identified one of the deceased suspects as Super Asogbon, while the identity of the other remains unknown.
The bodies have been deposited at the Ajebandale morgue.
This incident sheds light on the dangers associated with illegal bunkering activities and underscores the need for public awareness and law enforcement efforts to curb such illicit practices.
