Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Kayode Egbetokun has issued a directive for the immediate deployment of tactical teams and equipment, along with the relocation of the Assistant Inspector General (AIG) of Zone 4 to Plateau State.

The announcement was conveyed in a statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, shared on his official social media account on Friday.

The statement read, “IGP Arrives Jos, to meet governor, stakeholders As he orders deployment of tactical teams, equipment, Orders relocation of AIG Zone 4 to Plateau State with immediate effect.”

This decision follows recent attacks by bandits on various communities in Bokkos and Barkin-Ladi Local Government Areas of Plateau State, resulting in significant casualties.

The attacks, spanning a 48-hour period starting on Saturday, claimed the lives of over 150 villagers and led to the destruction of numerous houses.

Additionally, more than 10,000 individuals were reportedly displaced as a result of the violence.

In response to these tragic events, the IGP has taken decisive action to reinforce security measures in the affected areas and engage with relevant stakeholders.
