Yoruba Nation agitator, Chief Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, has refuted claims that he transformed into a cat to evade arrest during a midnight raid by the Department of State Services (DSS) on his residence in Ibadan, Oyo State, in 2021.
Saving Point Media reported that on July 1, 2021, DSS operatives conducted a raid on Igboho’s residence in the Soka area of Ibadan, with the agency’s spokesperson, Peter Afunanya, later confirming the operation.
Afunanya stated that intelligence reports indicated Igboho had stockpiled weapons in his house and that the DSS team encountered armed resistance from suspected guards during the raid.
Addressing speculations that he transformed into a cat to escape arrest, Igboho clarified in an interview that some cats were indeed killed during the attack, but he firmly denied the rumors of him changing into a feline creature.

“It is true that some cats were killed during the attack because the DSS just kept firing bullets in all directions. I was rearing cats as pets and I had many of them in my house. So, anything or movement attracted sporadic gunshots,” Igboho explained.
He further emphasized that his escape was not mystical but attributed it to the protection of the Almighty God, asserting that the raid failed to achieve its intended objectives.
Responding to allegations that the DSS brought along three herbalists for the raid, Igboho claimed ignorance, citing the chaotic and violent nature of the midnight operation as a reason he couldn’t verify such details.
Regarding the DSS’s assertion that he stockpiled guns in his house, Igboho dismissed the allegations as fabrications, asserting that the claims were part of a plan to implicate him in a criminal trial.
“That’s very far from the truth. How can I stockpile guns in my house? All those allegations are phantom and cooked up by the DSS just to implicate me for a planned or trumped-up criminal trial,” Igboho declared.
