In Ibadan, an Iyaganku Chief Magistrates’ Court ordered the remand of 35-year-old Dickson Peter in a correctional facility for allegedly setting his landlord’s house on fire.
The defendant faced charges of felony and arson.
Due to jurisdictional limitations, Magistrate Mr. M. Mudashiru did not take Peter’s plea and ordered his remand at Abolongo Correctional Facility in Oyo Town.

The remand is pending legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP), with the case adjourned until July 23 for mention.
According to Prosecution Counsel, Insp Femi Oluwadare, Peter allegedly set fire to his landlord Cepas Okeme’s house on April 18 around 12:30 a.m., resulting in the destruction of properties worth N6.5 million.
The fire also spread to the neighboring property of Bose Ali, causing damage valued at N3.5 million.
The accused’s actions violated section 443 of the Criminal Code Laws of Oyo State 2000.
